The “phenomenal” Rahmat Haron, one of our Malaysian contributors, is almost impossible to translate. So much of his poetry is rooted in his innovations with the Malay language. But we like to challenge ourselves. We already have a few up our sleeves. And we’re putting this up on the blog, so there’s escape now.
You can see his (more conventional?) performance of “Keranamu Malaysia” (“Because of you, Malaysia”) on Youtube.

it’s good to see Ramat featured here as he is truly amazing. i am grateful for the link to “keranamu Malaysia” which i’ve see him perform a couple of times. the random heaping on top of each other this collection of typical and highly evocative current buzzwords and slogans, and the rhythm and rhyme and variations in speed make the delivery truly compelling.
oops forgot to ask – can i get a copy of the print?? that’s amazing too!
Hey Sharon! Thanks for the comments. Do buzz Yee I-lann for the print. It was actually Rahmat who sent it over to us. Last I heard I-lann’s preparing for a show there in KL this December. So you might wanna check that out too!
I loved this video a lot, particularly him on acoustic. I know i saved it as soon as i saw it, but looking for it just now, i cannot find it. if anyone has this video, please email it to me. it would be greatly appreciated. OldO1989@gmail.com

Hey Rahmat. Yes, it’s still on. Slowly, slowly. But surely.
Hey2, Rahmat, n blogmaster,
I’m currently doing an English assignment, and can i have a copy of your poem please Rahmat?
It’s hard to find it anymore.
And that’s a shame.
N about the assignment, it’s just a literature coursework project.
I hope you can help me with these?
Thank you so mush!

I do not even understand how I stopped up here,
however I believed this put up was once great. I don’t understand who you might be but definitely you’re going to a famous blogger when you aren’t already. Cheers!
